Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor’s starrer magnum opus Padmavati directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali saw the support coming from the superstar Salman Khan. The superstar came in defence of Sanjay Leela Bhansali and said there is nothing wrong in his movies.
Salman Khan has collaborated with Bhansali on movies like Khamoshi, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Saawariya and has now backed Padmavati which portrays a historic era.
Salman told Network 18, “No decision should be made without seeing the film Padmavati. Sanjay Leela Bhansali makes lovely films and there is nothing wrong with his movies.
The actor also added that only the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has the authority to decide if the movie is worth releasing.
Several film associations including, Indian Film and Television Directors’ Association (IFTDA) along with Western India Cinematographers Association (WICA), Cine and TV Artists Association (CINTAA), Association of Cine and Television Art Directors and Costume Designers (ACTADCD), Screenwriters Association (SWA) also extended it’s support to the director today and questioned the government’s silence on the controversy and growing threats by various fringe groups against the release of the film.
Bhansali faced troubles since the shoot of the movie began. The set of the movie was vandalised twice – in Jaipur and Kolhapur – and the director himself was roughed up by miscreants of Karni Sena during the Jaipur shooting of the film earlier this year.
Rajput groups and some members of a political party have accused the director of distorting facts in the film, starring Shahid Kapoor, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh. The film is expected to release on December 1.
Bhansali has already issued a clarification that there is no dream scene between Padmavati (Deepika) and Khilji (Ranveer) as claimed by some Rajput groups.
